Local Information
Tintagel is an historical seaside village with strong links to the legend of King Arthur. Tintagel Castle has a spectacular setting among the rugged clifftops and the nearby South West Coastal Path offers stunning views across the coastline.
In the village itself, you can visit the medieval Old Post Office and King Arthurs Great Halls - dedicated to the Arthurian legend. There is also a good range of novelty shops, pubs and tea rooms.
Regional Attractions
The North Cornwall coast is famous for rugged coastline and ancient fishing villages, now among the more fashionable resorts for tourists. Padstow is around 30 mins drive and is well known for the quality of its boutique shops and seafood restaurants. Further along the coast is the celebrated surfing resort of Newquay, offering excellent beaches and a busy nightlife.
Travelling inland from Tintagel, the historic towns of Bodmin and St Austell are within easy reach. National Trust members may like to sample the delights of Llanhydrock House, just outside Bodmin, and gardeners will appreciate the Lost Gardens of Heligan, also not for from Bodmin. St Austell is home to a 150-year old brewery as well as the world famous Eden Project.
